Cornell receives NIH U54 Award for
ME/CFS Collaborative Research Center
In 2017, Cornell received nearly $9.4 million from the National Institutes of Health to establish a collaborative research center focused on myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS).

The Cornell Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Collaborative Research Center brought together researchers and clinical partners to investigate biological mechanisms of ME/CFS, including neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, extracellular vesicles, immune-cell gene regulation, and the effects of exertion. The Center’s work sought to identify the underlying disruptions that contribute to ME/CFS and support the development of future treatments.
