New Center Manager

Let us welcome Carl Franconi to the Cornell ME/CFS Collaborative Research Center team. He will be joining us as the Manager for the Center for Enervating NeuroImmune Disease. Carl will be taking over the administrative workload from Ms. Susi Varvayanis, who has recently taken a full-time position in the Graduate School to pursue her interest in supporting PhDs interested in non-academic careers, a role she had been carrying out part-time while efficiently managing our NIH ME/CFS CRC.

Carl holds a Master of Science degree in Cell & Molecular Biology from the University of South Florida where he studied the molecular regulation of pathogenesis in Staphylococcus aureus. Prior to joining the Center, Carl was a Biological Administrator and Scientist for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. He brings laboratory management, testing, and auditing experience relating to ISO 17025 accredited and FDA certified food safety regulatory work.

He will be the liaison between the various Cores of the Cornell ME/CFS CRC, helping promote efficient and synergistic research and outreach to the patient community.
